ALGINATE

INCI: Algin

Alginate is an anionic polysaccharide widely found in the cell walls of brown algae. It is also produced by some bacterial species. These substances are organic polymers derived from alginic acid.

Water-soluble, it forms a gel consistency when hydrated. It is used as a cosmetic thickener, gelling agent, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It is compatible with a wide variety of emulsifiers and cosmetic actives for skin and hair care.
